Frank, whose fab blog is “Dutch Goes the Photo”, has set “CONTINUATION” as the topic for this week’s Photo Challenge. See https://dutchgoesthephoto.net/2016/11/15/tuesday-photo-challenge-continuation/
2016 has been quite a year. What with BREXIT here in the UK and more recently the US election results!!
When I read Frank’s challenge this week. I just thought “How apt!!!”. I looked on google for a suitable quote and voila, one spoke to me immediately.
“The past is for inspiration, not imitation, for continuation, not repetition” Israel Zangwill.
Sadly, history does seem to repeat itself and lessons are rarely learnt by those able to prevent such repetitions.
This year, events on the world stage have been at times unsettling, and inevitably have inspired fear and stress in a lot of people, which is all too easy to tap into, consciously or subconsciously. As Frank writes in his post, the world, however, still revolves on its axis. Life continues, we get up, we go about our day, we eat, we sleep and so on.
When we feel wobbly, it’s good to try to ground ourselves, and where better than in nature? Nature does not concern herself with politics and such like. She lives in the moment. Her herons and squirrels and trees are not concerned with how we have voted. They just continue “being”. This is the energy we need to tap into to help de-stress our frazzled nerves and restore our peace of mind.
